Legislative breakfast addresses concerns of teachers in NHC

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Wednesday, educators in New Hanover County expressed the needs and wants for their classrooms directly to those who have the power to make a difference.

During the legislative breakfast, elected officials got to hear about the issues that are holding back the progress of education in New Hanover County.

Both teachers and lawmakers who attended Wednesday's breakfast agree that while things are on the right track, there is a lot of work to be done in the area's schools.

Some of the most pressing issues that came up included the need for more technology, improving the drop out rate, boosting teacher morale and pay and the future of the charter school.

New Hanover County Superintendent Tim Markley organized the breakfast. State elected officials, including senators, state representatives and local county commissioners were all in attendance.
