Unseasonable winter brings increase in travelers to Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The warm winter that the Port City is seeing seems to be heating up the local hotel business.

Despite it being too chilly to get into the water, many people are still flocking to the area to enjoy the sunny beaches. Workers say it's one of the best winter seasons they've seen in a few years.

Some hotel managers say they've also seen the number of business travelers increase in particular, hinting that the economy could be improving.

Hotels also say that despite some hotels seeing a good winter, most rates are lower than they were during the summer.
