CFCC Culinary Arts graduate opens new bakery | Business

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A graduate from CFCC’s Culinary Arts program has opened a new bakery in Wilmington – Uprising.

The business is located on Wrightsville Avenue and advertises itself as “Not Just a Bakery.” According to a press release, Bree Peterson-Resnick’s company has everything from cheesecake and red velvet cake to savory goat cheese pastries and veggie scones.

Resnick uses locally grown, organic ingredients and offers a large selection of gluten-free goodies.

Customers can also find local or American made retail items like hammocks, greeting cards, wind chimes and shirts at Uprising.

Resnick credits her time at CFCC for helping start up her business.

 “They give you all the tools you need to be successful,” said Resnick in a press release. “You learn how to purchase your products, set up your kitchen, hire your staff, create menus, evaluate your product, and to analyze your profits and losses.”
