NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Over $100,000 was raised at the 20th annual Coastal Classic Celebrity Golf Tournament, according to a press release from a New Hanover Regional Medical Center spokesperson.
The money raised goes towards the NHRMC Foundation, a nonprofit that supports special programs and services.
The tournament helped to fund new technology, called an Extra-Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) machine, which assists those who suffer from heart and lungs that are temporarily damaged.
“Over the last 20 years, this tournament has made an impact on almost every area of New Hanover Regional Medical Center,” said Aline Lasseter, Vice President of Development and Executive Director of the NHRMC Foundation in a statement. “We are grateful to the community for once again coming together to support this life-saving technology.”
The golf classic was held at the Landfall Country Club this year.
