Sign up now for second annual NC Surf to Sound Challenge | Community Spirit

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) – The second annual NC Surf to Sound Challenge will take place Saturday, Nov. 17, but you can go ahead and sign up now, according to the event’s website.

Last year, paddleboarders braced heavy winds, rough surf and three-feet-seas for the challenge.

Paddlers will compete through Masonboro Inlet and will navigate the channel behind Masonboro Island.

Paddlers who are intermediate will compete in a separate flatwater course.

Proceeds will go towards a group called For Masonboro, which supports the coexistence of wildlife habitat and human recreation.

The race costs $60 to participate.
