NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The Ability Garden at the New Hanover County Arboretum has helped thousands of people with physical and mental disabilities learn the hobby of gardening for the past 12 years.
Even though the Ability Garden is located at the county Arboretum, it does not receive state or local funding, so volunteers rely on money raised at plant sales, like the one they are having Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1, according to an event organizer.
The sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m at the Arboretum, located at 6206 Oleander Drive. Shoppers can purchase poinsettias, houseplants and herbs, along with specialty planters.
All money raised will go towards the Ability Garden.
