WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) – The Wrightsville Beach Fire Department is currently seeking volunteer firefighters, according to the town’s website.
No prior experience is necessary, but those who apply should be in good health, willing to learn and must reside within five miles of the Wrightsville Beach drawbridge. A comprehensive training program with necessary equipment will be held for firefighters.
Applications need to be turned in by Aug. 1, and recruit training begins Aug. 27. Classes will meet Tuesday and Thursday nights through early December.
The Wrightsville Beach Fire Department is made up of both career and volunteer members, but once firefighters-to-be graduate from the training program, they can earn extra money through the department’s paid on call program.
Additionally, volunteer firefighters can qualify to work part-time as fire apparatus operators or emergency medical technicians.
To learn more, call the fire department at 910-256-7920, or e-mail Captain Sterling Powell firstname.lastname@example.org.
