WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – If you’re looking for a way to get in a good workout and benefit a charitable cause at the same time, you might want to go ahead and mark your calendar for this year’s Run for the Ta Tas.
The 5K race, hosted by TrySports and Wilmington Plastic Surgery, is scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at Mayfaire Town Center, according to an event organizer. Money raised goes to the Pink Ribbon Project, which provides mammography screenings to local women without health insurance and distributes Comfort Bags to women who are undergoing cancer treatment.
The event is described as a chaser race, in which women get a two-and-a-half-minute head start to run before participating men. The first participant who crosses the finish line, whether a man or woman, will receive $1,000 cash.
A one-mile-walk will also take place.
