The 'Perfect Summer' to air in July

The Perfect Summer was mostly shot in the Wrightsville Beach area with local actors and crew.

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) – The locally shot film, The Perfect Summer, will air sometime in July, according to the director's Facebook post.

The Perfect Summer is an original movie made for UP, formerly known as GMC.

Filming began in early May of this year. It took a total of three weeks to shoot the film. It is currently in post production, but sources say it will make the July air date. Exact date still to be determined.

The Perfect Summer was mostly shot in the Wrightsville Beach area with local actors and crew. The film stars famed actors, Eric Roberts, Sydney Penny and Jason Castro.

Roberts is known for numerous films such as The Dark Knight and The Expendables. Penny currently lives in Wilmington and is best known for her role in All My Children. Castro is best known as an American Idol contestant in 2002.

$1 Summer Movie Series taking place at Mayfaire

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – If you’re looking for some indoor fun this summer with your little ones, you can check out a children’s movie on the big screen. Regal Cinemas at Mayfaire is hosting its $1 Summer Movie Series, according to Mayfaire Town Center’s website.

Different movies will be playing each Tuesday and Wednesday morning until August 7.

Next week, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days (PG) will be shown Tuesday, while Parental Guidance (PG) will be shown Wednesday.

Tonight's Airlie Concert Series cancelled due to weather

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Due to Tropical Storm Andrea, the 40 East Band, which was scheduled to perform Friday night as part of the Airlie Concert series, has been cancelled, according to a New Hanover County spokesperson.

The concert series will pick back up Friday, June 21 at 6 p.m. with the band ‘Shine performing.

Tickets are $8 for adults, $2 for children and free for Airlie members.

First Sounds of Summer concert of 2013 happening soon

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) - WECT's free summer concert series will be kicking off soon.

Beginning June 13, The 360 Degrees will perform. All of the concerts all take place on Thursdays in June, July and August at Wrightsville Beach Park, and all concerts are free.
