The Caped Crusader flies into theaters just after midnight

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Comic book fever strikes again. Tickets to the new Batman movie are on sale for Thursday night's premiere.

The Dark Knight Rises will play at Regal Mayfaire Cinema 16 and Carmike Cinema at 12:01 a.m. Mayfaire also has a 3:45 a.m. showing.

Carmike is celebrating the event with a fan art contest, costume contest and Batman video games.

The Dark Knight Rises is expected to break opening weekend records, outdoing The Avengers which grossed more than $200 million its first weekend.

The movie continues the saga directed by Christopher Nolan and stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
