WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) – One local community has been dubbed one of the world’s best surf towns.
Wrightsville Beach was named in the list by National Geographic. The article said that because of its size, it's easy to arrive at the beach and get in the water and surf, unlike more populated surf towns. It also noted that the best time to surf is during late summer because of the consistently above average surf.
Wrightsville Beach also offers a surf camp to teach anyone who is interested in learning how to shred the waves.
Wrightsville Beach was the only North Carolina town to make the list. Other U.S. beach towns on the list were in California, Hawaii, and New York.
