Independent filmmaker credits Wilmington area for "ease of filming"
News

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A screenwriter, who is planning to film an independent feature called A Short History of Decay in the Wilmington area, told a media outlet in Florida that North Carolina had more benefits for his project.

According to his personal blog, Michael Maren plans to start filming the dark comedy October 1st in Wilmington. Linda Lavin, the Broadway actress who has lived in Wilmington for years, is one of the listed stars on IMDB.

Maren told YourObserver.com that North Carolina's tax incentives for film are better than those in Florida.  He also pointed out there is an available local crew with the other film projects taking place in the Wilmington area this year and even mentioned that obtaining permits and permissions are a "snap."

You can read more of Maren's comments on YourObserver.com here.
