WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) – Scientists, engineers and elected leaders covered just about every concern facing the Atlantic Coast at a conference in Wrightsville Beach.

The North Carolina Beach, Inlet and Waterway Association held its annual conference Monday and Tuesday at the Blockade Runner. Mayor Debbie Sloan, of Ocean Isle Beach, serves as the NCBIWA chair. She said Tuesday that the meeting of the minds provides an opportunity for people living up and down the coast to exchange ideas of what is and is not working for them.

"It's helped us all make better choices for the actions we take to have a sustainable coast for everyone to enjoy," she said.

The conference included updates from the Army Corps of Engineers, various coastal organizations and lobbyists.
