NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The N.C. Department of Transportation recently awarded a $13.9 million contract to S.T. Wooten Corp. of Wilson to go towards repairing roads in Brunswick, New Hanover and Pender Counties, according to a news release from the D.O.T.

Work can start as early as March 18, and work will be finished by June 28, 2014.

Work on area roads will include the following: 

  • Resurfacing U.S. 74/Eastwood Road from .17 mile west of Military Cutoff Road to .27 mile east of Heide Trask Bridge
  • Resurfacing U.S. 76/Oleander Drive from just west of Hawthorne to .15 mile south of U.S. 74/Eastwood Road
  • Widen and resurface U.S. 117/Shipyard Boulevard northbound and southbound from .06 mile north of U.S. 421 to N.C. 132 in Wilmington; and
  • Resurface U.S. 117/N.C. 132/South College Road from U.S. 117/Shipyard Boulevard to .07 mile south of Wilshire Boulevard in Wilmington.

Additionally, the projects will include work on the following secondary roads in New Hanover County: Whipporwill Lane, Channel Haven Drive, Aqua Drive, Marsh Hen Drive, Brighton Road, Cornwell Court, Shelley Drive and Golden Rod Drive.
