Expect traffic delays heading in and out of WB | News

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) – While it may be a little too chilly to bust out the swimsuits, the sunny skies this weekend will likely bring people out to the beach.

Cpl. Kevin Smith with the Wilmington Police Department wants to remind residents to expect traffic delays when heading to Wrightsville Beach. Construction on the drawbridge may cause some traffic congestion.

The Wrightsville Beach Police Department and Wilmington Police Department are teaming up to ensure traffic onto and off of Wrightsville Beach does not block intersecting roadways.

Smith reminds drivers they should not go through an intersection, even with a green light, until they can completely clear the intersection.

If they proceed into the intersection, but get stopped by traffic and block the intersection when the light turns red, then they are in violation of blocking an intersection and will be cited.
