Fans enjoy early screening of 'Safe Haven' at Mayfaire movie theater | News

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Moviegoers are getting their first look at Safe Haven Wednesday night.

The film opens nationwide on Valentine's Day. However, some theaters, including the one at Mayfaire, gave fans an early screening at 10 p.m.

Fans at Mayfaire said they are checking out the flick to see Southport. The production filmed there over the summer.

"It's awesome to know it's 30 minutes from where we live, where it was filmed," said Becca Hill.

"We have some friends that were extras on it, so it's cool, we're going to be looking for them," said Summer Saunders. "We read the book so we appreciate Nicholas Sparks and want to see his rendition of it."

Many of those at the theater were going on early Valentine's Day dates with their loved ones.

Others wanted to avoid the Valentine's Day crowds.
