Dan Aykroyd spotted at Wilmington restaurant

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A couple of well-known faces were spotted at a Wilmington restaurant recently.

Employees at Roko Italian Cuisine in Mayfaire say that Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids) stopped by Sunday, while Dan Aykroyd stopped by Tuesday night.

Employees noted that both stars, in town filming a movie called Tammy, were very friendly, adding that Aykroyd even offered to take photos with them.

Students to prepare meals to serve at Bluewater Grill for fundraiser

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) – Students with Cape Fear Community College's Hospitality Management program and Pineapple Guild student club will be offering up their skills to local foodies soon.

On Wednesday, April 24, the students will prepare and serve a three-course meal for the public at Bluewater Grill, according to a CFCC spokesperson.

The meal will include two glasses of wine or soft drinks, and will cost $35. The menu will include soup or salad, a choice of entree (Drunken Coconut Chicken, Rasta Pasta with Shrimp, or Jerk Spiced Pork Chop) and dessert.

Chick-fil-A hosting Bunny Brunch for kids

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Kids can enjoy a meal with the Easter Bunny soon.

From 9 to 10 a.m. March 27, the Bunny Brunch will be taking place at the Mayfaire Chick-fil-A, according to a news release.

For $5.50, kids will get three Chicken Minis, a small fruit cup and an apple juice box.

Jimmy John's to open fourth location in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Wilmington is about to get another Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches restaurant and more than two dozen new jobs.

Jimmy John's plans to open its fourth shop at The Forum on Military Cutoff Road. The restaurant is expected to open in June or July.

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Jersey Mike’s Subs and Poplar Grove Plantation are teaming up soon for the third annual March “Month of Giving” fundraising campaign, according to a Jersey Mike’s spokesperson.

All throughout March, customers will have the chance to make a donation to Poplar Grove Plantation at Jersey Mike’s locations in Wilmington.

Kids can learn about taking care of teeth at Chick-fil-A event

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Next Tuesday, kids will get the chance to learn about clean teeth as part of Kids Night at Chick-fil-A in Mayfaire.

According to the restaurant’s website , from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Dr. Halley White's Pediatric Dental Office will teach kids in attendance about teeth health and how to properly brush and floss.

The restaurant’s address is 6891 Swan Mill Rd.

Area restaurants to participate in Fire on the Dock dining competition

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) – Thanks in part to shows like Iron Chef and Top Chef, a statewide food competition, called the Competition Dining Series, is taking place again soon across North Carolina.

The competition spans across a few different regions in the state, and the contest specifically for the Wilmington area is called Fire on the Dock.

The contest means that things will be heating up in Wrightsville Beach soon as chefs from several area restaurants compete against another to make top-notch meals for a panel of judges.
