WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) – Beachgoers weren't the only ones soaking up the sun Saturday – a seal that’s been spotted in the area recently decided to enjoy the nice weather, too.

The seal was seen hanging out near Shell Island Resort, where onlooker Chandler Moeller said police kept a watchful eye over the furry guy to make sure no one bothered him.

Earlier this week, fishermen saw the seal off of Johnnie Mercer's Pier.
