WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) – The New Hanover County Board of Elections verified that enough people have signed the Wrightsville Beach smoking ban petition to allow it to move forward.
Board of Elections Director Marvin McFadyen verified 233 of the 294 signatures on the petition, which was more than the 211 needed to move forward.
WB Town Manager said he has suggested to the Board of Alderman to hold a special meeting on June 7 to discuss how to proceed.
The board will have to decide to move forward with the ban or have the public vote in a special election.
